Not Your Mom’s Eggbeater
For this project, I combined my passion for baking and making to recreate a rotary egg beater using traditional and nontraditional metalsmithing techniques.
Brass, Aluminum, Bronze, and Hardware
Research in phases
Initial research looked at antiquated kitchen tools. Their stylized nature and function are equally important. Narrowing down which functional pieces drew me in was the next phase between an egg beater and a meat tenderizer.

Behind the process

Using Rhino to create outlines for potential beater ends

Laser cut beater ends for models
Sawing out the final design for the beater end

Solidworks model

Casted 3D Printed gears in bronze

Turing the shaft for the beater
CNC Milling the body of the egg beater out of a plate of brass
The egg beater body post milling
Turned aluminum handle

Visualizing what the beaters could look like

Parts before assembly
The end results
